Blaby & Whetstone Athletic F.C.

Blaby & Whetstone Athletic F.C. is a football club based in Whetstone, near Leicester, Leicestershire, England. They are currently members of the East Midlands Counties League
==History==
Whetstone Athletic were first founded in 1928. In 1967 they joined the Leicestershire Senior League and spent much of the next thirty years in rehab the second tier apart from two seasons in the 1970s in the top division.〔(Football Club History database – Whetstone Athletic )〕 In 1993, they changed their name to Blaby and Whetstone Athletic F.C. when they moved to their current ground at the Blaby Boys club. The club was promoted to the Premier Division in 2000 after finishing as runners-up in the 1999–2000 season. In the 2003–04 season, they reached the 3rd round of the FA Vase.〔(Football Club History Database – Blaby & Whetstone Athletic )〕 In 2008–09, Blaby finished runners up in the Premier Division. The club reached the F.A. Cup 2nd Qualifying in the 2014/15 season, beating higher placed clubs Harborough Town, Stratford Town & Tipton Town, before losing 4-1 in a replay against Stourbridge FC. Despite falling away from the top three places in the latter part of the 2014/15 season and finally ending in 5th spot, the club remains ambitious and the goal of reaching step 5 of non-league is still very much in the club's sights.
Former managers include Andy Purple (now manager at St Andrews FC) and former Coalville Town manager Lee Harriman (now in charge at Oadby Town)
